This is the first night you decide to go to bed on time! You do your evening routine, make your bed, roll around, close your eyes and imagine the perfect morning after the perfect sleep you will have ... Well, not exactly! After an hour of spinning in bed, you still can't sleep, and the morning alarm and the tension of the next day are getting closer. At such a time, several favourite drinks come to the rescue, which will help you relax and sleep like a baby!

WARM MILK

The unique properties of milk to put us to sleep are due to the amino acid tryptophan. According to the Journal of Medicinal Food, “Milk has long been known and used to promote sleep. The sleep-promoting effect of milk has been attributed to its psychological associations (i.e., the memory of a mother giving milk at bedtime) and its rich store of sleep-promoting constituents (e.g., tryptophan).”

VALERIAN TEA

Valerian roots have been used for centuries to reduce stress and soothe. The herb is used to treat sleep disorders and helps people who suffer from insomnia.

CHAMOMILE TEA

Chamomile tea is one of the most popular and classic drinks before bed, during a cold or when you are just meeting friends. Its therapeutic characteristics are due to the antioxidant apigenin.

BANANA SMOOTHIES

If you are a fruit lover, banana smoothie is the perfect choice before bed. Just put some banana, almond butter and almond milk in the blender and you will have a great sleeping drink rich in magnesium, tryptophan, melatonin and potassium!

CHERRY JUICE

Cherry juice contains theanine - an amino acid that improves sleep. Two studies published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that drinking about 16 ounces of tart cherry juice during the day could result in a significant decrease in insomnia.
